Fees and Insurance

Here's everything you need to know about fees, insurance, and funding options.

Session fees

  • Individual counselling (50 min): $150

  • Free initial consultation (20 min): Complimentary

Fees are due at the time of your session. I accept e-transfer and credit card.

Extended health insurance

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in British Columbia. Many extended health plans include coverage for RSWs, which means a significant portion (or in some cases all) of your session fee may be reimbursable.

I provide a receipt after every session that you can submit directly to your provider. Plans that commonly cover RSW services include:

  • Sun Life

  • Manulife

  • Great-West Life / Canada Life

  • Green Shield Canada

  • Desjardins

Before we begin, I'd recommend checking your plan for:

  • Whether RSWs are listed as eligible practitioners

  • Your per-session reimbursement rate

  • Your annual coverage limit and whether it has reset

If you're unsure how to check, your HR department or benefits portal is usually the quickest place to start.

ICBC: motor vehicle accident counselling

If you've been injured in a motor vehicle accident and have an active ICBC claim, you may be eligible for funded counselling sessions through ICBC's Enhanced Care coverage. ICBC-funded counselling can support recovery from trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and the emotional impacts of an accident. You do not need to pay out of pocket — sessions are billed directly.

Please get in touch to discuss your situation and I'll help you understand what you're entitled to and how to get started.

CVAP: Crime Victim Assistance Program

If you've experienced a violent crime in British Columbia, the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) may fund your counselling as part of your recovery. CVAP covers eligible counselling services at no cost to you.

I work with CVAP clients and am happy to walk you through the process of accessing this support. You don't have to navigate it alone.

Autism Funding and the BC Children and Youth Disability Benefit

BC's Autism Funding program is currently transitioning to the new BC Children and Youth Disability Benefit, with changes rolling out through 2026 and 2027. Autism Funding remains available and applications remain open until March 2027, after which the new Disability Benefit will fully replace it.

If your child or teen is currently accessing Autism Funding, those funds can still be used toward counselling sessions at Inner Light Counselling during the transition period. Families receiving the new Disability Benefit may also be able to direct funds toward therapy — the new system is designed to offer more flexibility across a broader range of needs and diagnoses.

Because the details of this transition are still unfolding, the best thing to do is reach out directly. I'm happy to help you figure out what your family is entitled to and how to get started.

No insurance? No funding?

Many clients pay privately and find the investment worthwhile. If cost is a genuine barrier, I encourage you to reach out; I hold a small number of sliding scale spots and am happy to have that conversation with you directly.

Cancellation policy

I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee, as that time has been reserved for you.

Ready to get started?

The free 20-minute consultation is a good place to begin. We can talk through your situation, any questions you have about fees or funding, and whether we're a good fit.
